A couple weeks ago, the Swedish dating app HIMYNAMEIS was released to the Swedish market. The launch has stirred a lot of attention and early users are very enthusiastic. A few days ago the big Swedish youth magazine SOLO nominated the app to one of the hottest technical innovations of the summer. Now the founders want to introduce HIMYNAMEIS to markets outside of Sweden.
– It seems there is a demand for something better than the impersonal picture-based dating apps available today, and we think the same should apply outside of Sweden. Studies show that a video, even if it’s just a few seconds, gives you a very good idea of a person’s personality, looks and charisma. Contrary to some old pictures from Facebook. With HIMYNAMEIS we want to bridge the gap between peoples’ appearance in-app with their offline appearance, says Ludvig Lindström, one of the founders.
HIMYNAMEIS can be described as a mashup of Tinder and Vine. The idea is to let users appear with a short video clip (1-5 sec) in a conceptualized format. People are asked to say their name “Hi my name is X” and can use tags to search for others with similar interests. No profile pictures are allowed.
The app can be downloaded globally on the App Store as of today.
